30 Days of Fur {Tailgate... A Cold One...}

By {Molly}

Coat {Old, Similar Here} // Jeans {Koral, Black & White Version Here. Both on major sale!} // Vest {Old, Similar Here} // Boots {Old, Similar Here} // Hat {Target}

So when I planned doing 30 Days of Fur I knew good and well I'd be attending the Kansas State vs Oklahoma game this past weekend. What I didn't know was that it was going to be 25 - 38 degrees that day. Gross.

So it's not cute but I bragged before about making a fur vest tailgate appropriate so I felt like I had to actually post these pictures.... I tried the best I could. I had leggings on under my {purple} jeans, 5 shirts on under this puffy coat and 2 pairs of socks {not near enough}.  It was freezing but we had a blast at the tailgate and romping around our old stomping grounds {Aggieville} after the game so it was well worth it.

Did I catch my glove on fire holding it above a burner to try to warm my hands? Yes I did that. When your glove has little plastic grips on it keep it away from the flame. Even if you can't really feel your hand anymore because it's so cold.

We are nearing the end of November aka Furvember. Don't forget to donate! Your time is almost up!

Black Friday? Nope... Cyber Monday

By {Molly}

I'm not one of those bloggers that's going to give you Black Friday tips. I grew up with an extremely stylish mom who hates going to the mall and hates overly crowded places, so I turned into the same. Actually I'm not sure I've ever experienced Black Friday. I'm usually on the couch with leftovers, my mom and sisters watching a What Not to Wear marathon. I don't mind a mall trip, but only because it's the closest place to find J.Crew, easiest place to go to an Anthropologie, and only place to find Forever 21 and Nordstrom. However, I will only go on a random week day and never in the month of November or December unless I have to. So you're not getting any Black Friday tips from me except don't. Just don't do it.

There's no reason to when so many retailers have the same deals online. No lines, no fitting rooms, no screaming {this is what happens in my head}, and no lines {I just hate lines, it needed to be said twice}.  If you can't get a good deal online on Friday, you can still wait til Cyber Monday and most likely get whatever it is you want for a really good deal, and you can keep your sanity.  Here are some of the places I plan to hit up on Black Friday/Cyber Monday, online only.

*Sephora - Free shipping, plus tons of one of a kind items for $10 on Friday and $20 throughout the weekend.  Get a sneak peak of what's a part of this sale on their Pinterest page too.

*Gap - 50% off store/site wide. Not to mention free shipping over $50. I have my eye on several things already. You better figure it out quickly. Shop now for 20% off your entire order.

*Loft - 40% off everything, but it increases to 50% off everything on Sunday. Use code CYBER50 or ENJOY. Also free shipping over $125 order.

*Anthropologie - 20% off site wide {get your shopping done now!} plus free shipping on ANY order amount with code ONEDAY.

*Target - Has a different deal on a different section of the store next week! Deals start Friday online and in store {but why would you go in there?}.

*Asos - Shop now, 30% off EVERYTHING. Use code GIMMEMORE.

*Pier 1 Imports - Just flat out has 50% off of a ton of great products online. Right now.

Thanksgiving Table Centerpiece

By {Amy}

I love the Holidays! A couple years back was the first year that my cousin and I hosted our entire family. We live in Chicago and they were all traveling in from Kansas, which meant that everything was 100% up to us.  Since I had never fully hosted an event of this scale, I didn't realize how much work it was.  As soon as my Grandmother arrived, I thanked her for the countless amount of time that she continuously spent on getting the meal and house ready for the holidays year after year.  I finally realized how much work it is.

As much work as it was, it was still so much fun.  I decided that I wanted to make something really special and different for this event.  Since we didn't have decorations or a centerpiece for the table, I decided that making my own would be the way to go.  So I found this recipe and got to work.  This was actually a lot of fun and pretty easy to make.  The great thing about it is that any mistake, you can cover up by more bread stick or strategically place a flower.  I totally over cooked my cornucopia, but it gave it a great color.  Unfortunately, after the amount of hands that touched this and the fact that I overcooked it, it was definitely not edible.  So we just baked an extra batch of bread sticks to eat.  I went to the store and bought some fall flowers and a couple extra squash and viola, an easy, cheap and I think pretty centerpiece.

30 Days of Fur {Leather Leggings}

By {Molly}

Tunic {Old, Similar Here} // Leggings {Line & Dot} // Vest {Old, Similar Here}

As you're reading this I am off for the weekend to the great land of Manhattan Kansas to watch my beloved Wildcats play.  I'm terrified for one reason, the high temp is only about 37 degrees. The low is about 15.  My boyfriend and I hit up Target tonight to try to prepare ourselves. Considering it was about 80 again here today I think we may go into shock. Luckily, the game starts at 11am {actually thats unlucky} so we get to start drinking to warm ourselves up at about 8:00am {that's the lucky part}.

I am going to wear a fur vest... over a puffy coat. So the pictures may not be extremely stylish but whatever, the point is I'm still doing it. The whole time I was thinking about this idea I knew this game was looming. I was so excited to wear my purple leather jacket with a vest over it... assuming it'd be around 50 degrees. Well 50 and 35 are very different my friends... very different.

I hope beyond hope that my boyfriend is wrong and we haven't been "climatized" as he put it. He swears even though we are both from Kansas and were at one time used to that tempurate we have now become "climatized" by Dallas and will not make it.

I hope I make it out alive!

30 Days of Fur {Nerd Chic}

By {Molly}

Jeans {7 For All Mankind} // Shoes {Thrifted, Similar Here} // Top {JCrew} // Vest {Old, Similar Here}

I had glasses when I was in 3rd grade. They weren't your typical glasses for a 3rd grader. I had bifocals. For anyone who doesn't know this basically means they had the little insert thing so I could see far and close in them, aka I'm blind both ways.  I rebelled in my "Air Toto" {yes like Wizard of Oz} sweatshirt and kept telling the teacher that I forgot them at home. Until my mom and teacher joined forces and made SURE I wore them everyday. Not cool mom.

Around high school I graduated to contacts for a few months. It took me 3.4 hours each morning to put them in my eyes. You know that pouf test they do on your eyes? Yeah I have to have someone hold my head down so I don't move. I have had multiple doctors say "Wow, you are really bad at this... like the worst I've ever experienced."

Waking up at 4am to get my contacts in got old fast. I stopped wearing them, neglected my glasses and went on my way.  Fast forward to a few months ago and I had headaches everyday from staring at a computer. Thankfully, I was smart enough to get cool glasses. I walked into LensCrafters and said "I want those". Pointing to the RayBan Wayfarers in tortoise {aka sunglasses}. I asked if they could pop out the lens and pop in a glasses lens and they did.

I'm not a loser who has glasses to look smart/cool. I actually need them but I do like to look smart/cool sometimes too...

Also, welcome Dude back to the blog. Doesn't he look thrilled to be in these pictures? There was another dog behind us most of the time so he wasn't overly cooperative.

30 Days of Fur {Summer in November}

By {Molly}

Jumpsuit {Old, Similar Here} // Shoes {Old, Similar Here} // Jacket {Old, Similar Here}

Today {well this would actually have been Monday... I'll catch up I promise}, I was capitalizing on the whole Indian Summer thing. I love a good jumpsuit or romper, it's probably one of my favorite things ever. Am I technically wearing a onesie? Sure... that's basically what it is but I don't care.  Also, anyone who tries to tell you these are not in anymore, give them an eye roll and walk on. They don't go out of style. Just like any true 70's inspired look, it will ALWAYS be chic.

This is probably my most subtle fur but that doesn't make it any less awesome.  It's painted faux fur with ponte sleeves. I don't wear it often because I feel like it's extra special but it had to make an appearance.

Now, did you read this post yet? If not hop on over there and find out WHY I am asking for donation for Movember. Or if you did read it just pop over here and donate already! Oh, I just realized that's 2 posts in a row of a jumpsuit/romper huh? Awkward...

Winter Skin... Be Gone

There is truly nothing I love more than getting burnt to a crisp during the hot summer months. Now as the temperatures are starting to drop, my cancerous UV rays are becoming dormant. My skin is becoming pasty white like a newborn and my only options for clothes seem to be big bulky sweaters and pants, both of which I despise.

During high school and well into my early twenties I use to frequent the tanning beds on the regular.  Like seriously, I would go daily.  As I try to become more mature I've stopped going to the beds, however that doesn't fix my ghostly appearance.  I have a love-hate relationship with spray tanning due tot he fact that you go from oompa-loompa on day 1, perfectly bronzed on day 2 and then back to a pale beast by the third day.  I ain't got the time or money for that nonsense.

Then I found my knight in shining bronzed armor...

This stuff is ridiculously amazeballs. It is subtle enough to put on haphazardly yet by the second coat you see the difference.  If you are as creeped out by paleness as I am, I would highly recommend this for you. My only MINOR setback is that it smells like oven-baked flesh. So spritz on a little more of that perfume after you bronze yourself.

30 Days of Fur {The Reason}

By {Molly}

Jumpsuit {Line & Dot} // Vest {Thrifted, Similar Here}

You may be wondering what my motivation is for Movember. You may even still be wondering what Movember is.  In this post I want to clear up any questions you may have.

Simply Movember is setting out to change the face of men's health.  Men across the globe grow mustaches through the month of November to raise awareness and funds for men's health, particularly prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health.

So, why is Movember near and dear to my heart?  When I was a senior in college doing my final rush week I got a call.  I had received many missed calls from my dad but having to be locked up in a sorority house for 10 hours a day was a little taxing.  Finally after realizing this wasn't a normal amount of missed calls I called him back on a break.

This is when it happened. I remember everything about the 5 minutes that followed. I sat on our back porch and watched the water for the pasta I was making boil over but feeling helpless about it.  I remember feeling like the wind had been knocked out of me. My dad had prostate cancer. Tears started to flow even though I tried to be strong until I got off the phone with him. He reassured me that if you are going to get cancer this is the one to get. Most men die with prostate cancer, not because of it.  This doesn't reassure a 21 year old girl though.

What most people don't realize is how common prostate cancer really is.  Although my dad reassured me that he would be fine it didn't change the fact that every 17.5 minutes a man dies from prostate cancer. Every 2.2 minutes another man is diagnosed with it.  Men are 35% more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than women are with breast cancer.

My family was lucky. My dad is healthier now than ever and is adamant about making sure men are aware of the facts.  Other families aren't as lucky.  It's time that we make it something that men are talking about. If you are a man, get tested. It's easy and early diagnoses makes a huge difference. If you're a women make sure the men in your life are aware.

That's why I am wearing fur every day of November. I can't grow a mustache but wanted to show my support. So, I am asking again for donations but not for me, for all the men in my life and the men in yours.  Click here to donate, any amount is helpful and appreciated!

30 Days of Fur {Sweatpants in Real Life}

By {Molly}

Pants {LNA, Similar Here} // Vest {Jenny Han old, Similar Here} // Ankle Boots {Steve Madden old, Similar Here} // Shirt {LNA, Similar Here}

What am I looking for in the ground you say? My heels. What a perfect green background, I thought. Until my chunky heels on my ankle boots sunk into the ground. I have no idea the last time it rained, Friday maybe? Why is it muddy? Too late, pictures taken, boots muddy.

One of my favorite trends for fall/winter is the casual pieces turned dressy one. Honestly, the fact that I can wear these sweatpants to work with a fur vest and ankle boots and look like I put effort into my outfit is amazing.  In my opinion if you want to look chic this season you need to get on this trend. Even if you just pull an old pair out of your closet and try it for a casual weekend grocery shopping trip you should. It's a great way to be comfortable and wear something besides leggings.

30 Days of Fur {Indian Summer}

By {Molly}

Dress {LNA, Similar Here} // Vest {Old, Similar Here} // Necklace {Vanessa Mooney old, Similar Here} // Shoes {KAANAS} // Sunglasses {Similar Here}

Last night I celebrated my close friend Kristen's 30th birthday party. It's safe to say we celebrated fully with plenty of root beer shots {no that's not just a shot of root beer}.  Today we had a brunch for her and even though I had finally gotten used to the cold it was 85 degrees today.  So I took advantage of the weather and wore one of my favorite dresses I own. Everyone should have a long sleeve black cotton dress. You can dress it up or down super easily.

Also, since we've never talked about it, this is my favorite necklace of all time. I wear it nearly everyday.

Don't forget to check back tomorrow when I will tell you my story and why I am supporting Movember. Until then, drop a few bucks here to donate!

30 Days of Fur {Jacket Style}

By {Molly}

Jeans {7 For All Mankind} // Vest {Old, Similar Here} // Jacket {Line & Dot} // Shoes {KAANAS}

Most people probably wouldn't wear a fur vest like this over a jacket but it's one of my favorite ways to.  I love how it looks like it's part of the jacket.  Also, the jacket has sequin sleeves which is another of my favorite things, sequins.

My pledge class makes an annual trip somewhere to reconnect with each othand last year it was Nashville. Everyone made fun of me because my suit case was completely full of fur and sequins and not a lot in between. Somehow I was appropriately dressed for all occasions though.

I know I've skipped a couple days but don't worry you will get your fill of all of those outfits. I was out of town for work and will caught up with the posts.

Molly

P.S. Don't forget to donate to Movember for #furvember! Check back too, I will be telling you my motivation and story for Movember on Monday.

Frosting Glass

By {Morgan}

When I moved into my rental house, my landlords had just hung new white mini blinds on the window in my shower.
{A window to the backyard...in the shower...I don't understand either}
The white blinds looked great, but within a week, rust started building up on the brushed aluminum blinds and on the window sill.
After doing a little research, it does look like most aluminum mini blinds are rust proof/water resistant, but I wasn't having such luck.

I remembered seeing on one of my daily blogs reads, Young House Love, that they created more privacy in their bathroom by frosting the window right above their toilet.
I thought that frosting this window would not only create the needed privacy, but it would also take away the bulk of having blinds hanging, let a little more natural light in, and make it easier to crack open the window for added ventilation. {It is the only source of ventilation.}
If you're going to have a window in your shower, you might as well enjoy it to the max.

I bought the materials at Home Depot.

And got exactly the result I was looking for.

The process was simple. Clean and dry the window, measure and cut the film, spray the application solution, peel & stick on the film, use the squeegee to smooth out all bubbles.

Rust producing blinds, begone!

You may also notice in the before & after photos that along with a shower curtain and new bathmat, I got a new toilet & vanity.
Plumbing issues begone, too!

Peace, Love & Frosty Windowed Bathrooms,
Morgan

30 Days of Fur {Brrrr...}

By {Molly}

Jeans {7 For All Mankind} // Vest {Thrifted, Similar Here} // TShirt {LNA} //
Shoes {Old, Similar Here} // Scarf {Market Center, Similar Here}

It was SO cold in Dallas today! Apparently it's just going to keep getting colder and freeze. As I drove home from work I talked to my mom. "It was freezing today!" She says about the weather in Wichita, KS. "I know! It was freezing here too!" My mom goes on to explain how it was 18 this morning {yes degrees} and maybe reached about 30 all day. Hm, kind of puts our 50 degree day into perspective.  I always thought I was tougher than these Texas girls in cold. "I'm from Colorado and Kansas... this is barely chilly."  Today made me realize I'm slipping into pansy status... but the wind chill was pretty crazy! It had to have felt more like 40...

Hopefully I can buck up.
